European Aluminum Foil Association: European aluminum foil demand is stable in the first half of this year.

According to the European Aluminum Foil Association (EAFA) released aluminum foil demand data. In the first half of 2022, foil deliveries in foil containers and technical applications resumed flat, while conversion foil production continued to grow in the first quarter, in part related to more home outdoor consumption. European aluminum foil exports continued to decline by 15%. Overall demand in the first half of 2022 increased by 0.7% to 494,000 tonnes compared to 2021 (2021: 490,300 tonnes).

Double-zero foils for semi-rigid containers, technology or other applications performed better in the second quarter after a prolonged period of demand fluctuations, up 0.7% even compared to a particularly good quarter in 2021. The recovery in demand for these products has reduced deliveries by just 2% year-on-year in the first five months of 2022, a period of strong recovery following the easing of the COVID-19 pandemic. Single-zero aluminum foil, which is mainly used in flexible packaging and household foils, led the second quarter by 2.2%, with a mid-term increase of 2.3% compared to last year. Overall, intra-European sales of all foils rose by 3.3%.

Bruno Rea, Chairman of EAFA's Rolling Committee, remains cautiously optimistic about the outlook for the latter part of 2022, "Despite the generally difficult economic situation, we are pleased to see a steady recovery in the business environment. European foil mills are particularly concerned about the availability of natural gas and the trend in its prices as a result. , we particularly welcome the decision of the European Commission and its Member States to consider the food supply chain as a "society-critical" issue under the "Save gas for the winter" initiative. About three-quarters of aluminium foil deliveries, with in food and pharmaceutical packaging and related applications.”

Bruno Rea added: “We are eager to provide our customers with the necessary services
